Thanksgiving Gift Baskets Are A Great Way To Share The True Spirit Of Thanksgiving
The occasion of Thanksgiving is North America’s traditional holiday to celebrate the survival of the Pilgrims back in the 1620’s through the kindness and knowledge of the Native Indians. It’s an understatement to say that the Pilgrims were ill prepared to survive in the cold, snowy winters of North America.

They had little knowledge of how to find and prepare edible foods. The Pilgrims were definitely people in desperate need, and luckily through the kindness and humanity of the Native Indians, they were able to survive that first cold and brutal winter and went on to establish a community here in North America.
This spirit of Thanksgiving kindness and humanity has continued through the years to this day – we view Thanksgiving as the occasion when we all give thanks for what we have and acknowledge all our blessings.
We typically decorate our homes with themed Thanksgiving decorations and prepare a sumptuous meal, symbolizing all these many blessings that we enjoy. However, while lots of families have plentiful food, there are others that are not so lucky. Some people are in dire need of so many of the everyday items that we sometimes take for granted.

There’s a wonderful way that each one of us can help our less fortunate neighbors. An organized Thanksgiving gift basket drive is one really great idea that can be implemented in your own community. You could begin organizing it through your local church or through a community center such as a Senior service organizations, or maybe through a recreation center.
Another variation on a Thanksgiving gift basket drive is to alternatively have a clothing drive. There are definitely plenty of kids and adults who cannot afford any warm winter clothing. Some examples to include in a clothing drive are warm coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves and socks are great additions to a clothing gift basket.
There are so many ways in which you can make a difference in other people’s lives, these are just 2 suggestions. Why not have a brainstorming session with whatever group you belong to, and see what other types of Thanksgiving gift basket ideas you all can come up with. This is definitely a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving in the true spirit of this special holiday!

I have never thought of giving a gift basket at Thanksgiving, but it looks like a great idea! I give small gift baskets at Easter or maybe at Christmas to family members, but I will definitely have to consider this next Thanksgiving. Thanks for the idea!
